3rd May 2021 You arrive in Maun and we meet you and transfer you to The Waterfront B & B a great place to relax and unwind ready for the big adventure that starts in the morning!!
May 4th, 5th and 6th We collect you at 9am and we drive 5 hours to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve having a picnic lunch along the way. We are staying at a very remote site called Letiahau about 3 km from a salty but frequented waterhole, the only one for 45km around. Experience the immensity of this vast Game Reserve (over 54,000 sq km!!) and see numerous desert adapted animals that make this harsh environment their home. We will see Bat eared foxes, Gemsbok (Oryx) and Springbok, Predators and even the ever amusing Ground Squirrels, and our game drives will take into account the conditions prevalent at the time and animal movements and may be short or very long. Our fresh water that we will be bringing with us from Maun, will be at a premium even in camp there will be no laundry done and minimal showering we will only have 1000 litres for 4 nights. You will be able to shower every day though! We will take a picnic lunch with us one day and drive to Pipers Pans, we will also visit Deception Valley.
7th and 8th May we pack up our bags and have a game drive whilst the back up team dismantles our camp, and move, via Rakops Village where we refuel and buy Ice, to Makgadikgadi Pans NP Khumaga. The Boteti River there is dry at the moment but may be flowing again by then who know’s if dry then there are 3 solar powered waterholes that take over I always enjoy being here great for raptors lots of palm trees elephant bulls and maybe 1000’s of shy but photogenic zebra the lions are usually very wary here as Khumaga village is other side of river.
9th, 10th and 11th May we move to Nxai Pan NP. If the vast herds of Zebra are not at Khumaga then they will be at Nxai Pan – it depends how the rains have gone. It is Full Moon on the 11th May a great place to experience it and great for Cheetah
(Like the CKGR) then on the 12th May we pull through to Maun via Baines Baobabs and stay the night again at the Waterfront.
That afternoon if you are Bucksupped I recommend a 45 minute flight over the Okavango by Helicopter it is about US$300 for this privilege (optional extra but let us know as early for the sunset flight)
13th, 14th and 15th May we move into Moremi Game Reserve, to my favourite area of all time Bodumatau, (the place of the Lion) this site is miles from anywhere else (well about 8km as the crow flies but isolated because of water in the Okavango) and is in a stunning game and scenery and waterbirds filled area
On the 14th May we drive to Xakanaxa and enjoy a 3 hour boat cruise there, having a picnic lunch afterwards next to the water before game driving back to Bodumatau
16th, 17th and 18th May Khwai Concession – this is often our best site for Leopard and we can drive off road here at your guides discretion, great at Leopard sightings – watching out of course for punctures. It costs us 3 x as much to stay here than in the Parks and Reserves but is usually worth every Pula!!
You will enjoy a tranquil 2 1/2 hour mekoro trip whilst here.

You can take a tranquil mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) trip with community members while in Khwai.
19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd May We move 5 hours into Chobe National Park, to SAVUTI my favourite place to be in the world!! and worth 4 nights, Savuti is widely considered to be Botswana’s premium wild life viewing destination
23rd, 24th and 25th May we move a total of 7 hours North to the Chobe River the floods will be coming in and many river roads may be impassable so we will have a full day boat cruise whilst here to optimise our game viewing opportunities
26th May you can transfer to Vic Falls at 9am, we recommend 528 Victoria Falls
