Arrive in Maun on 28th Sept 2012, Overnight at Audi Camp.
29th Sept – we drive about 370km to Drotsky’s cabins on the Western Panhandle of the Okavango Delta, near Shakawe. Here we camp in the shade of beautiful riverine tree’s next to the water.
We spend the next 2 days exploring the papyrus channels and lush vegetation, bird watching, fishing and searching for the elusive Sitatunga.
On the 2nd October we drive back to Maun, collect a few supplies and continue to Nxai Pan. The desert environment will be a huge contrast to the past few days!
We will spend 3 days here, and will drive for lunch to Baines Baobabs on one of the days.
The Waterhole at Nxai Pan is often a hive of activity at this time of the year, we will stay in an exclusive operators site away from other people.
On the 5th October we leave Nxai Pan as early as possible, getting to Maun mid morning. Once again we will collect more ice!! before continuing driving to Savuti.
We will have another 3 nights at Savuti, in an exclusive site next to the Channel – and will enjoy our 2 full days here exploring this beautiful area.
We will return to Maun in time for lunch and to catch the 14.50 flight to JoBurg.
