ULINDA SAFARI TRAILS BOTSWANA
Victor Phuthego, trainee Camp Manager
Ulinda Safari Trails specialises in small (up to 7) safari parties and believe our clients get the best of both worlds - a small personalised group with a minimum of staff (3 including Jane your guide), yet the comfort of a fully backed up safari.
A customised Mercedes Benz Unimog vehicle normally used is set up so it can carry the complete camp in comfort. It allows unsurpassed photographic opportunities as well as a feeling of safety when close to dangerous animals that is often lacking in an open vehicle!!
It is fitted with a 60l Engel Freezer and a 120l water tank. Our safari's are non participation, as we believe your time should be spent game watching rather than setting up camp!! We supply 6 man heavy duty canvas dome tents (sleeping 2 or a couple and a child), with good stretchers, bedrolls (a good mattress fitted with sheets, pillow, a blanket and duvet), with 4 man dome tents available for singles. We set up a toilet tent for every 5 people in camp, and a shower tent that is normally used during siesta time on days where we do not move camp. Canvas wash basins on stands are supplied with warm water when we come in from a game drive, and first thing in the morning.
The Unimog has a comprehensive reference library that clients are welcome to peruse, with books on Birds, Insects, Mammals, Snakes and Reptiles, Tree's, Shrubs and Botswana in general.
Jane Bettenay, Director and Head Guide of Ulinda was the first woman in Zimbabwe to pass the rigorous and world renowned testing for a Full Zimbabwe Professional Guides Licence, in 1989. She passed her full Botswana Guides licence in 1995.
Jane is an avid and award winning wildlife photographer in her own right (all photos used on this site were taken on safari by Jane), who will endeavour to give you the best photographic opportunities possible. She is knowledgeable on the flora and fauna of area's visited and can tell you many fascinating facts on the species encountered in the course of your safari. Camp Manager is Alfred Ngwenya, his cheerful smile and wonderful cooking will make you feel at home. Victor Phuthego is our young Assistant Camp Manager who is showing great potential and is very capable already though he is only 18yrs old
We offer specialised Professional Photographic Safari's (maximum 4 photographers per vehicle, maximum 12 in total with 3 vehicles, Bird Watching Safari's, in addition to our normal Game Viewing and Photographic Safari's.
Ulinda is a member of
