Ulinda Safari Trails specialises in tailor made photographic safaris in Botswana. We give you the best opportunities to capture great photos in comfort. By keeping small we assure attention to detail and provide you with a unique safari that exceeds your expectations. Our clients get intimate group sizes with personalised itineraries and also the comfort of a fully backed up safari.
We are members of both HATAB and BOGA which gives us access to the exclusive operator camp sites in Botswana, away from other tourists. Ulinda’s guides are photographers and understand light and angles. Our itineraries are tailor-made, as are our vehicles- they have large windows and a roof that pops up giving 360° views in safety. They keep out the dust that invades open vehicles and in the winter you can keep warm. Each vehicle a fridge to keep drinks cool, an inverter to charge your digital equipment and long range fuel and water tanks allowing us to travel to remote areas in comfort and safety. They have a comprehensive reference library for clients to peruse, with books on local Flora and Fauna. We supply bean bags for your camera lenses and have the latest Iridium Sat Phone, that can be used for Internet access anywhere and in case of emergency.
Ulinda’s mobile camp is comfortable and our food delicious and nutritious. Our safari staff are friendly and efficient, working hard to give you the experience of a life time- many of our clients return again and again. Jane Bettenay is Head Guide at Ulinda and the first woman to pass the rigorous testing for a Zimbabwe Professional Guide’s License. She gained her Botswana Guide’s Licence in 1995. She is an avid and award winning wildlife photographer (all photos used on this site were taken on safari by Jane) and will give you the best photographic opportunities possible while on safari.
Her knowledge of Botswana’s flora and fauna is exceptional and she will astound you with facts about the species you encounter on safari. Jane works with clients to plan each trip, and is the guide for most trips we undertake ensuring you are given the best service. You can book an exclusive safari or join like-minded people, only up to 8 guests. Itineraries are customised to suit individual groups. Jane advises on seasonal and local conditions, even considering the moon’s phase, when planning safaris. Tours can include Chobe, Savuti, The Panhandle, Mababe and Khwai Community Areas (where walking and night drives are allowed), Moremi Game Reserve, The Okavango Delta, Nxai Pan, Makgadikgadi Pans and the Central Kalahari. See our ‘Destinations’ page for details. We also do short safaris of 2 days or more starting from and returning to Maun.
Safaris can start and/or finish in Kasane (transfers from Livingstone and Victoria Falls are easily arranged) or Maun in Botswana. We have set itineraries you can join that are priced very competitively: e-mail us to check if you want to join a safari, or look at our ‘Safari’s With Spaces’ section. These itineraries have been handpicked by Jane using her vast experience and offer a great overview of Botswana. Being small means we can keep our costs to a minimum, our daily rate is extremely well priced.
